Pleasant Town Board for twelve years.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Her community involvement extends to a number of other organizations.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>She belongs to the Racine branch of the Catholic Knights, holding the position of trustee.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Ms. Braun is a member of the Kenosha and Racine chapter of Quota International, a service organization that assists women who have been abused and people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>She is Vice Chairperson of the Racine and Kenosha (Self Help for the Hard of Hearing) group.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Ms. Braun is an usher at St. Paul the Apostle in Racine and has been active in the BOLD (Blind Outdoor Leisure Development) Program.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>When asked about her motivation for returning to the Board, Ms. Braun responded, “I’ve always been interested in helping people with disabilities. I had a son with cerebral palsy.”</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%"> </p> <h2 style="line-height:115%"><a name="HOMEProgramMakesFunds">HOME Program Makes Funds Available for Accessibility</a></h2> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%"><span style="mso-tab-count:1">            </span>Now a nine-year boy can wheel from the deck to his yard and his basketball hoop.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Now the young woman with a progressive illness can wash her hands at the bathroom sink.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Now the man caring for his wife who has a disability can safely and easily assist her into their home.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>How can all these things be possible?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>It’s the HOME Program that makes these types of home remodeling projects possible.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>The HOME Program makes funding for home modifications available to homeowners with a disability (or to homeowners who have a family member with a disability residing in the house).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Funds are available for persons living in Walworth, Racine, and Kenosha Counties.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>(The cities of Racine and Kenosha are excluded.)</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%"><span style="mso-tab-count:1">            </span>For more information about application requirements and housing modifications, contact Barb Norstrom, Assistant Director of Independent Living Services at Society’s Assets, Racine office, (262) 637-9128.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%"><font size="2"><span style="color: windowtext">© 2003 Society's Assets, Inc.  All Rights Reserved<span style='font-family:"Times New Roman"; color:windowtext'><o:p></o:p></span></span></font></p> </body>
