A trip to the ethnic festival FESTA ITALIANA in Milwaukee is an annual favorite.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Specialized transportation and attendant care costs can be prohibitive and may limit an individual’s independence. <o:p> </o:p> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%;text-indent:.5 in">Society’s Assets sponsors <a target="_top" href="../Special_Events/Special_Events_Index.htm#PatsWalk">Pat’s Walk</a>, a pledge and sponsorship event held in September each year. Proceeds from Pat’s walk are designated for the Transportation Fund.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Contributions are also accepted throughout the year.<o:p> </o:p> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%;text-indent:.5 in">Pat’s Walk is held in memory of Pat Anderson of Racine, a woman committed to ensuring the rights of people with disabilities.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>She was dedicated to making the community accessible for everyone.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%;text-indent:.5 in" align="right"><font size="2"><a href="#top">Return to top</a></font></p> <h2 style="line-height:115%"><a name="ScholarshipFund"></a>Scholarship Fund<o:p> </o:p> </h2> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%;text-indent:.5 in">Proceeds from the annual <a target="_top" href="../Special_Events/Special_Events_Index.htm#SocietysAssetsOpen">Society’s Assets Open</a> are used to provide scholarship awards to students with disabilities.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Individuals residing in the agency’s service area who are enrolled in associate, bachelor, or graduate studies are eligible for the scholarships that generally range between $500 and $5000.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Judging is based on academic record, extracurricular activities, personal essay, and recommendations.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Over $25,000 in scholarships have been awarded since 1998.<o:p> </o:p> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%;text-indent:.5 in" align="right"><font size="2"><a href="#top">Return to top</a></font></p> <h2 style="line-height:115%"><a name="GeneralContributions">General Contributions</a><o:p> </o:p> </h2> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%;text-indent:.5 in">Contributions that are not designated for a particular program or project are also welcome.  General donations are used to serve the greatest need, whether that is adaptive equipment, housing modifications, sign language interpreters, personal care services, or other concerns.  Every contribution supports the agency’s mission and the belief that each individual can reach his or her potential.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%;text-indent:.5 in" align="right"><font size="2"><a href="#top">Return to top</a></font></p> <p class=MsoNormal><font size="2"><span style="color: windowtext">© 2003 Society's Assets, Inc.  All Rights Reserved<span style='font-family:"Times New Roman"; color:windowtext'><o:p></o:p></span></span></font></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:115%;text-indent:.5 in" align="left"> </p> </body>
